Borderlands 2 'Graveyard Virus' a Serious Threat to Players.

borderlands2

A new exploit for Borderlands 2 is severely damaging the save files of countless players. Gearbox Software is labeling this 'Graveyard' exploit as 'sabotage' since it is spreading like a computer virus wiping out player data saves.

The 'Graveyard' exploit apparently started from user edited game saves that have been modified to unlock a hardcore mode for Borderlands 2 that was unused and sitting in the game's code. If you play in an online game with someone who has an edited save and you happen to die, your player data will get erased.

Gearbox has already submitted a patch to Microsoft but there are still reports coming in of wiped game saves. Chris Faylor, Gearbox's community manager recommends avoiding public games all together and playing only with friends you trust. When exiting an online game make sure you save and quit. If you do die in an online game and are forced back to the main menu, select continue to get back into your game.

Faylor also suggested that players report suspicious behaviour to Gearbox by emailing them at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . It appears that the PC and PS3 version of Borderlands 2 haven't experience the same issues, so watch out 360 owners.
