XCOM Shooter may now be a team based third person shooter

While XCOM: Enemy Unknown is slated to come out later this month, the original XCOM first person shooter that debuted at E3 2010 seems to have gone through some drastic changes.

New screenshots that Kotaku has here seem to suggest that the XCOM shooter has now been retooled into a team based third person shooter. Judging by the screenshots the 1960's retro vibe seems intact but with the game seemingly changing up it's formula it is unclear how much of the original concept we saw back in 2010 will make it into this game.

The screenshots were part of a marketing survey about the upcoming game. Interestingly the survey also asked whether players would want to pay full retail price for the game or prefer the title to be downloadable.

2K has commented on the Kotaku story saying "We have not made any new announcements regarding the XCOM title currently in development at 2K Marin, and it is our policy not to comment on rumors or speculation."

Keep it locked to XboxEdge.com for any upcoming news on the XCOM shooter. XCOM Enemy Unknown will be out on October 9th in North America and everywhere on October 12th.
