Ex-Rare staff plan spiritual successor to Banjo-Tooie

It appears that a group of ex-Rare employees are reuniting to create a spiritual successor to beloved N64 game, Banjo-Tooie that was released in 2000.
The group of employees include series composer Grant Kirkhope and artist Steven Hurst. The group has set up a twitter account under the handle Mingy Jongo to gauge fan support for the project.
The proposed project doesn't seem to be beyond the idea stage at this point, so there is no information regarding which platforms it will be released on when (if) it is completed.
The project wouldn't be an new entry into the Banjo Kazooie franchise since the IP rights are held by Microsoft but it would be "a game that shares that same kind of humour, silly characters, fun game play, great tunes and all that stuff that we enjoy making."
It appears the prosed group is looking at using the Unity game engine by a recent tweet that stated "#unity will probably be perfect for our spiritual successor. I'm thinking keeping level of detail and googly eyes close to the original..."
It would be great to see this project get off the ground as the Banjo-Kazooie franchise include some of the best games available on the N64. The group seems to be mulling a Kickstarter to fund the project, we'll keep you posted when more details become available.
