Today Deep Silver has given zombie fans loads of new information about their sequel to last year's Dead Island. the game's successor Dead Island Riptide will have our four survivors being forced back to the island after a monsoon complicates their escape plan. This won't be the same island we saw in the first game however as the monsoon had drastically altered the terrain, with much of the island being flooded.
There are also several new additional features that were not present in the original Dead Island. Deep Silver promises dynamic weather that will force players to adapt to changes in visibility. A new, fifth character will also debut with a "all-new and unique skill set." Despite having five playable characters, Dead Island Riptide will still be a four player cooperative experience.. There will also be several new zombie mutations that were not present in the first game. Deep Silver promises new cooperative communication features to "allow players to enjoy an even more intense and strategic team experience."
Dead Island Riptide also seems to be incorporating some some tower defense elements with the survivors having to "strategically place traps, fences and turrets to fend off oncoming Zombie onslaughts" to protect the human survivors during new "hub defense missions."
Dead Island will hit stores at some point in 2013.
