Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning almost got a sequel via the money of Take Two Interactive. The publisher behind Borderlands 2, Grand Theft Auto V and BioShock Infinite was "close to a pact" with 38 Studios according to Founder Curt Schilling.
In a new interview with the former baseball star, Curt Schilling says that 38 Studios and Take Two were so close to a deal that they were ready for the "final sign-off" until Take Two was "spooked" by the negative comments of Rhode Island Governor Lincoln Chaffee and backed out.
The deal for a sequel was reportadely worth $35 million dollars but fell apart due to Chaffee calling the game a failure. When Take Two was asked to comment on the interview with Curt Schilling they gave the usual "I am not aware that there were any negotiations. We do not comment on rumors and speculation.”
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning was a well received game both commercially and critically. It is sad to see the current state of 38 Studios but perhaps one day the sequel will make it to store shelves.
